In 1835, Auguste Comte wrote that the composition of the stars would never be known - "forever denied to us", in his words. This take is often characterized as one of the worst in the history of science (albeit by a philosopher), as only 14 years later the field of spectroscopy was created, and 15 years after that, it was applied to astronomy. Ever since learning about this rather unfortunate prognosis, I've wanted to compile a list of things that either I or humanity at large, would be at the very least, unlikely to ever learn. Despite its inspiration, this is less of a grandly philosophical thing, and more of a personal compilation of mysteries I wish we had answers to. Some of the things here are very random and would only make sense to myself.
