Needle in a haystack ez pz

Last winter, my class got in a bus to a nearby hill to go sledding, as a reward for collectively passing a test. I just paced around the top of the hill for the whole time and didn't do any sledding, because I needed to pee really badly and I was afraid I would just piss myself on any kind of impact. So I walked around at the top of the hill listening to music with an airpod in one ear.

When I got home, I realized that I was no longer in posession of my airpods case and the other airpod. Woe is I, right? I had no idea whether I lost it on the bus back or on the hill. It had gotten dark hours ago so I just told myself I'd look for it tomorrow.

Tomorrow comes, and I search the bus. Nothing. I walk to the hill, but I'm literally looking for a little white puck in a gleaming white landscape (And it's a big ass hill too). This is dumb, I tell myself, but I spend 30 minutes searching the top of the hill anyway. I didn't find anything, but as I was leaving I had the silly vision of my airpods falling from my pocket, hitting the ground, and sliding 150 meters down to the base of the hill. I was at this point pretty despondent and had basically accepted losing them forever, so I decided I would come back when the snow melts to look for them, since there was basically no chance of seeing anything with a white blanket on everything.

Two weeks or something passed, and I finally had the opportunity to entertain my dumb little hypothesis. I rode my onewheel through the slushy streets to the hill, and then plodded on down there to look around. I probably spent at least 20 minutes wandering around this half acre sized mushy swamp, searching for my lifeblood, my fucking airpods (I'm exxagerating, but I do like em).

Anyway, as I'm on the actual verge of giving up and leaving, I notice a small pocket of white slightly different to the surrounding snow patch. I got closer, expecting nothing, feeling only the smallest amount of hope, and a second later I realize that I've actually done it. I found them. I picked them up legitametely ecstatically, and opened them. Not only was it still functional, it was still fully charged.

I took a celebratory selfie there to remember the event by. I can't show you of course, because I'm a reasonably paranoid person, but the fact that I did is testament to how life changing this event was. 🥹 Seriously though, it kind of heavily contributed to the high sentimental value I now attribute to my fucked up pair of Airpod Pro 2's. (I say fucked up; they stil work perfectly but they've been lightly scratched to say the least. )

maybe i'll explain how this happened to them
some other time ( it's unrelated damage )
